Areas of emphasis are:
Practical life activities which enable children to learn about themselves, their environment and others. The mastery of everyday tasks is an important step toward building self confidence. Tasks such as zipping, tying, buttoning, polishing, dusting and washing are essential for young children to accomplish. They learn to care for themselves as well as others by completing a task, cleaning up and returning the materials to the appropriate places, ready for the next person to use.
Sensorial exercises promote awareness and development of the senses. when allowed to touch, feel, hold, smell, listen, see and taste, children absorb concepts. The sensorial materials are designed to refine the senses, and as confidence and self assurance develop, the sensorial lessons are applied to hands on learning of mathematical and language concepts.
Language: The introduction of exciting new words in all activities increases the child's vocabulary. Conversation is encouraged in the classroom.
Numbers and Mathematics: The operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division allow the child to understand and master the basics of numbers.
Work in art, nature, science and geography enrich the program content.
